Review of Beyond the Boundaries

Title : Beyond the Boundaries

Author :Rajat Kanti Das

Blurb :Ajoy was searching for an ideology to find the meaning of life, but Sabitri kept the ideals aside to keep her family survive through economic constraints, while a section of Bengalis of the northeast India had lost connections with their ancestral land due to country’s partition in 1947. The former generation had their old doctrines of faith, based on caste and creed, and unlike them, Ajoy, the next generation youth, developed his faith in Marxism to live for a cause, while Sabitri’s living without choice compelled her to leave aside the age-old social values and customs. Both of them had to confront the fast changing social scenario surcharged with communal antagonism due to political upsurge of religious fundamentalism. With the conflicts and contradictions, they had to straddle through a relentless journey of life beyond the boundaries to find new horizons of romance and aspirations.

My view :

The pace with which author narrates the story shows the patience he has while dealing with each of the episodes. He gives a vivid insight of each of the happenings. The minuscule details he fills in the act makes the work of visualizing the scenes way easy. The content is so evenly distributed that not at a single place one could feel the over and lack of information.Author's passion towards reading brings sure amount of maturity in his story and in his writing style.

He digs in to the details of events and provides a solid base to the story. As the details roam around the story only, and plays a significant role in order to make the task easy to relate with them, they didn't bore me for a single second. The hue of cast-ism is very well shown in this book, how a Brahman could go to any level to follow the old doctrines, and many more aspects of a Brahman family is very-well covered in the book.Whatever author narrates there's a soul attached to it.He narrates with such dignity that not  a single word marks their presence as unworthy.

Author, in the beginning itself prepares reader for the exaggerated information and that's one more reason why reader couldn't feel annoyed by the content it offers.A constant speed is maintained throughout the journey. He does justice with all the incidents narrated in the book.Charmed by his writing style and constant pace, what I was looking forward for is the nature of the story- how it would turn and what would be the end.

Every section of the story has something to tell to readers.Story has a fair amount of emotions and soul attached to it.The story-line helps reader to float in a new world of some Brahmans, where reader could get to know about the Brahman's culture and how their life takes a roll.As the story-line is not composed of regular drama, which one could see in every next novel available in the market, the book gives satisfaction in the end of not wasting the time of reader dealing with this book.
