First of all,
I would like to welcome you in the literary world. Being capable of expressing
feelings in the form of words is itself an achievement. Here, at WordCurd we
would like to express your feelings and experience as a writer, reader and as a
human.
And now as you
have entered this world, how do you feel being a member of it?
3 years
back I wouldn’t have imagined I would publish a novel. But being a part of this
world is really exciting and I want to make this journey pleasant for me as
well as my readers.
What made you
think your book is different from others? What makes your book special that
reader should pick it?
Many of
the mainstream successful novels in the Indian market are based on love stories
masala (there are some exceptions though). I wanted to change this narrative
and attract the reader base which is in love with foreign writers like Rowling
etc. So I have based my story on many different things like religion,
corruption, love, revenge, gender issues and much more. It is an attempt to
reconcile these in a single story, which is completely based on my college (NIT
Surathkal) about which no one has written as exclusively as I have in this book.
While writing
this book what were your expectations from the book? Were you sure that this
book could give wings to your writing career?
Honestly
I had none, I just started thinking and liked the story which had formed in my
head so I put it in writing. I was not sure before, but I am now because either
it will be successful or it won’t be and I will improve more in my next books.
What do you
think of writing as a career? What importance does literature plays in your
life?
I will always be writing, and I am going to
try my best and get money out of it as well as entertain the readers.
Literature is like an inseparable part of my life, I don’t see it merely as
entertainment rather a construction of value system of the life, each piece of
literature representing one block.
What according
to you is the best way to connect to readers? Words shooting from heart, an
extraordinary story or something else?
A harmonious combination of both, plus writing skill and hard work(no
author mentions this, but sometimes authors rewrite a chapter as much as 50
times so it will be perfect for readers.
Now as your
debut book arrives in the market, what do you expect from your readers?
I expect a critical appraisal of the story
and my writing skill, suggestions etc.
When you were
in the initial phase of the writing journey, what obstacles you faced as a
debutant author?
I wrote the entire book in college on
different laptops of many friends (lol). Frankly I didn’t face any obstacles
rather challenges like my own laziness, finding publishers etc
What you think
is the purpose of your writing? What difference does writing makes to your
life?
If not writing, then what?
As I see it there are three purposes to my writing- multifaceted reality, continuous change and a human’s role in this world. I believe life is continuous knowledge gaining process and writing gives me a chance to test my acquired knowledge. If not writing, then no life…

Does at any
stage you feel like leaving the script in the halfway. Who would you like to
give the credit of being a constant inspirer?
Yes. This
is the tough part. I would like to give credit to a course I did called
“landmark education” through which I took a challenge to be self-motivated and
to tackle my laziness throughout this period of writing. It worked out great
for me.
Last, but most
important question readers would want to know- Are you working on another book?
If yes, how different is this from your last work?
Ans- Yes. It
is going to completely different, more based on the world instead of just
India. I am also planning to write a series some years later, that will the
ultimate goal of my writing.
Thank you for
sparing your precious time!
We hope you
enjoyed the session.
