Interview with Author Rajat Kanti Das

First of all, I would like to welcome you in the literary world. Being capable of expressing feelings in the form of words is itself an achievement. Here, at WordCurd we would like to express your feelings and experience as a writer, reader and as a human.

And now as you have entered this world, how do you feel being a member of it?
I feel great to a part of your literary world.

What made you think your book is different from others? What makes your book special that reader should pick it?
The subject matter has been dealt in my book is in a completely different way. There are lots of debates and discussions which will provoke enormous thoughts to reconsider the most established beliefs about our society, caste system and Marxists way of thinking and many other things.

While writing this book what were your expectations from the book? Were you sure that this book could give wings to your writing career?
While writing this book I didn’t think anything except to offer a good book to my readers. Now, everything is in the hands of the readers.

What do you think of writing as a career? What importance does literature plays in your life?
I want to adopt writing as my career. This is not an easy job but surely exciting.

What according to you is the best way to connect to readers? Words shooting from heart, an extraordinary story or something else?
I think if one writes from the heart then readers also read it from their heart. While writing this book I laughed and cried simultaneously along with the characters of my novel. Now I see that readers also do the same. An extraordinary story line is off course essential to absorb the readers in a novel. There are two components of a novel, the story and the plot. One has to make a perfect combination of these two. Moreover, the narratives and the dialogue have to be perfectly distributed almost in the novel, otherwise the readers feel monotonous while reading the book. I think I made these more or less perfectly in my novel.

Now as your debut book arrives in the market, what do you expect from your readers?
I want them to like my book and tell others to read it.

When you were in the initial phase of the writing journey, what obstacles you faced as a debutant author?
While writing the book I did not find any obstacle. But while publishing the book I found it difficult because every new writer finds difficulty in publishing his/her book. The editors seldom read the proposal of a book written by a debutant author.

What you think is the purpose of your writing? What difference does writing makes to your life?
If not writing, then what?
I have many things to say to the citizens of my country which I feel as right. So, I have to keep writing to express myself.

Does at any stage you feel like leaving the script in the halfway. Who would you like to give the credit of being a constant inspirer?
Writing halfway scripts is my bad habit. My inspiration is my love for the country.

Last, but most important question readers would want to know- Are you working on another book? If yes, how different is this from your last work?
Yes, I am writing another novel. Now I have to concentrate to finish this novel. My next novel will be different because unlike my last novel, here flow of incidence will be more then my previous one.

Thank you for sparing your precious time!
We hope you enjoyed the session.
